Himbowl - Himachali Leaf Plates (Pattal) for Dham

TraditionSustainable WorkCulture

No Himachali Dham, the slow, festive feast cooked by botis in great brass pots, was ever meant to be eaten off plastic. It was served on pattal: plates pressed from the broad leaves of the Taur creeper, stitched with slivers of wood, used once, and returned entirely to the earth.

Himbowl revives exactly that. Leaf plates from Taur (Bauhinia vahlii) and other Himalayan leaves, sturdy enough for hot curry and rice, one hundred percent compostable.

It is the rare product whose disposal is as honourable as its use, an initiative for the health of both the community and the ground it stands on.

Field note “Used these for our family function. Guests loved them, zero plastic waste, and they held hot dal and rice perfectly without leaking.”
